Ciao!
My name is Jazmyn, and I'm a junior at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. I'm spending the fall semester in Venice, Italy with 12 other students from Colgate and our professor, J. Swain, and his wife. Many of you reading this have been influential in my life, and I wanted you to be a part of this experience. I considered several ways to share it with you all and decided that a blog is best. This way, I can share photos, explain experiences, and have conversations with friends and family in various parts of the world. In years to come, I look forward to reminiscing about my semester abroad and coming back to this webpage that will store many of these memories. I encourage you to leave comments, ask questions, and/or send me notes! I really hope that this will be an interactive experience!

The Name
The title Bridge to Venice has more meaning than it might seem to have at first. The most obvious meaning: this blog forms a digital bridge from your side of the computer to Venice, Italy! If we go a little deeper, we can view our lives as journeys. I walk mine each day trusting that my Father God loves me, has a plan for me, and has always had one. My Father and I reached the point on this path where there was a bridge ahead of us that opened up to Venice, Italy. On July 31, 2015, together, we crossed over into this beautiful city! He had already gone ahead of me, as a good and loving father does, and prepared me to cross this bridge to Venice.
With gratitude, I reflect on the education and travel opportunities with which God has blessed me. He knows what I need before I do, and I see his hand in my life in his on time provision, healing, and power to transform a person from the inside out. And, it's all out of His love for us! I'm so excited to discover to where the other bridges on my path with Him will lead because Venice has been awesome so far! I am so glad that I can share this experience with you.

Logistics
I plan to upload blogs once a week: on Mondays around 2 PM EST. I have some scheduled trips for class that may slightly alter the uploading schedule, but I'll keep you all informed and updated!
In each blog post, I like to include some of the Italian words I have been learning so that you can learn them too!
At the bottom of each blog post, I'll include a slideshow of extra photos that I haven't highlighted in blog, and will have a separate page with all of the photos of the week. Photos of the week: http://bridgetovenice.weebly.com/photos-of-the-week.html
Thank you for taking interest in the experience I'm having in Italy, and I hope that you'll enjoy Venice through this lens!
Grazie (thank you :)),
J McKoy
