Week 1 in Venice presented so many new experiences. A new apartment, a new school, an Italian organ recital, delicious meals, and a beautiful daily reality.
The view from my apartment window is awe-inspiring, but I also pass a similar view on several ponti (or in English, bridges) that I pass on the walk to school each morning. Sometimes it feels unreal. How is this not a movie set? Venice, with earthy-toned stone buildings, bluish-green canals, and boats instead of cars is the only environment that some people here have ever known. It's a stark contrast from my home in the Washington metropolitan area; however, it's a contrast that I appreciate.
Coming up next week- I'm planning to take my first trip out of Venice! A few friends and I have made plans to take a day trip to Padova, Italy. It should be fun!
Enjoy the rest of your week, friends :-)
